The most popular sevas are Suprabhatam (Rs 200, 2:30 AM), Thomala Seva (Rs 250, 10:30 PM), Archana (Rs 200, throughout the day), Kalyanotsavam (Rs 5000, early morning), and Unjal Seva (Rs 5000, evening). Arjitha Brahmotsavam (Rs 10,000) is the most premium seva. All sevas include darshan.
TTD seva booking generally opens 1-3 months in advance depending on the seva type. Popular sevas like Suprabhatam and Kalyanotsavam get booked quickly. Check the TTD website regularly for availability. Some sevas may have a lottery system during high-demand periods like festivals.
Dress code for sevas is stricter than regular darshan. Men must wear traditional dhoti (pancha) with an upper cloth (uttariya) - shirts are not allowed during sevas. Women must wear saree or half-saree. These traditional clothes are available for rent near the temple if you don't have them.
Children are allowed for most sevas. However, for sevas held during early morning hours (like Suprabhatam at 2:30 AM), it is advisable to leave very young children at the guest house. Children must also follow the seva dress code. There is no separate ticket for children under 12.
Every seva ticket includes: participation in the seva ritual, darshan of Lord Venkateswara after the seva, laddu prasadam (number varies by seva), and for premium sevas like Kalyanotsavam, additional prasadams and religious items are given. The spiritual experience of participating in the ancient ritual is the primary benefit.
Yes, you can book multiple sevas on the same day if the timings do not overlap. For example, you could attend Suprabhatam (2:30 AM) and Kalyanotsavam (9:00 AM) on the same day. Each seva requires a separate booking and payment. However, ensure you have enough time between sevas to reach the respective reporting counters.
Kalyanotsavam (celestial wedding ceremony) is a re-enactment of Lord Venkateswara's marriage with Goddess Padmavathi. It costs Rs 5000 and is performed in the early morning hours. It is popular because devotees witness the divine wedding ritual from close proximity, receive special prasadam, silk cloth, and photos, and get darshan after the ceremony.
Thomala Seva (Rs 250, 10:30 PM) is considered excellent value as it involves the night-time decoration of the deity with fresh flowers. Devotees witness the intimate floral decoration ritual and get close darshan afterward. The late timing means fewer crowds and a more serene experience. It includes laddu prasadam and is easier to book than morning sevas.
Sahasra Deepalankara Seva (Rs 500) is the illumination of the sanctum with a thousand oil lamps. It creates a spectacular visual of Lord Venkateswara bathed in golden lamp light. Performed in the evening, this seva is considered highly auspicious. Devotees receive darshan in the beautifully illuminated sanctum, laddu prasadam, and a small lamp as a memento.
Limited spot seva tickets are sometimes available at the TTD current booking counter in Tirumala on the day of the seva, subject to availability. However, popular sevas like Suprabhatam and Kalyanotsavam are almost never available for spot booking. It is strongly recommended to book online in advance for guaranteed participation.
