- After TTD's November 2024 decision, the packages do not include the Rs 300 ticket; pilgrims take the free SSD token, per an agent page.
- Sources disagree on whether APTDC and Telangana Tourism are running Tirumala packages now; official status is unavailable.
- The agent says Aadhaar is mandatory for the SSD token; check the current rule before travelling.
- Verify dates, inclusions and refund terms with APTDC in writing; book any Rs 300 ticket only on TTD's official portal.
The APTDC Tirupati package is the Andhra Pradesh tourism corporation's bus tour from Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad. Agent pages show fares of roughly Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,300 and say no Rs 300 ticket is included after TTD's November 2024 decision; you take the free SSD token instead. Whether the package is running now needs confirming with APTDC.
We are an independent guide, not APTDC, not TTD and not a tour operator, and we do not sell TTD tickets. The official APTDC site would not open properly for us, so every fare and schedule below comes from an agent page or search snippet and is labelled that way. If you want the darshan side explained first, read our TTD darshan booking guide.
APTDC Tirupati package: where it runs and what it costs
APTDC is the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, a state public-sector undertaking founded in 1976 with headquarters in Vijayawada, according to Wikipedia, and it runs resorts that include Tirupati. Its Tirupati bus packages are sold from several cities. One authorised agent page, updated in May 2026, lists APTDC departures from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Coimbatore and Salem. The table collects the fares we found, and the source of each one.
| Origin | Fare seen | Days or format | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bengaluru | Rs 3,160 | Monday, Wednesday, Friday; SSD basis | Agent page and snippet, May 2026 |
| Bengaluru | Rs 2,000-2,190, AC semi-sleeper | Not stated | Search snippet; unclear which product it covers |
| Chennai | From Rs 2,000; from Rs 2,160 | Not stated | Agent page; search snippet |
| Hyderabad | Rs 4,300 (Friday); Rs 4,100 (Tuesday) | Day-specific fares | Search snippet; low confidence |
| Coimbatore, Salem | About Rs 4,000 (snippet); Rs 4,220 (agent comparison page) | Not stated | Search snippet; agent page |
Two cautions apply. These are per-person agent figures, not APTDC's own price list, and we did not find child fares. The agent's comparison page also describes the Bengaluru tour as 3 days and 2 nights with daily departures, which does not match the Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule on its own Bengaluru page, so confirm the format. The cheaper Bengaluru figure may be a different product from the Rs 3,160 tour, since the snippet does not say what it covers, so ask what a fare includes before you compare two numbers. For a trip from Bengaluru, our guide to the Tirupati package from Bangalore compares the options.
What the fares do not tell you
The agent figures say little about what a fare buys. For the APTDC Bengaluru tour we found the temples and the days, but not whether meals, toll or a freshen-up room are included, and the Chennai and Coimbatore lines carry no itinerary at all. That is why two fares that look far apart, such as Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,160, cannot be compared until you know whether they cover the same bus, the same stops and the same meals. Ask for the inclusion list first, and only then compare the price per person.
Which darshan you get: SSD, not Rs 300
The agent comparison says none of the APTDC or Telangana Tourism packages includes a darshan ticket, and that every pilgrim takes the free Slotted Sarva Darshan (SSD) token. That fits the 2024 change to TTD's tourism quotas, described below. The Special Entry Darshan priced at Rs 300 is a ticket you book on TTD's official portal, so the package is mainly transport and, depending on the tour, meals.
What TTD decided in November 2024
Deccan Chronicle reported on 19 November 2024 that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams board suspended Special Entry Darshan allocations to state tourism corporations, including APTDC and Telangana Tourism, which had received about 4,000 tickets a day. Hans India reported on 20 November 2024 that the quota for tourism corporations was cancelled and that the trust chairman said TTD exists for pilgrims rather than tourists. We found no later report that the quota returned.
| Source | Date | Statement |
|---|---|---|
| Deccan Chronicle | 19 Nov 2024 | TTD board halts Special Entry Darshan allocations to state tourism corporations, citing ticket misuse |
| Hans India | 20 Nov 2024 | Quota for tourism corporations reported cancelled; debate follows |
| Agent comparison page | Updated May 2026 | No darshan tickets included; free SSD token for every pilgrim; Aadhaar mandatory for the token |
| Our KSTDC guide | Live page, seen 5 Oct 2026 | Tourism-corporation packages mention Sarva Darshan, not the Rs 300 ticket |
The Aadhaar point comes from the agent page, and rules at the token counter can change, so check the current rule before you travel. Our SSD vs free darshan comparison explains how the token works and how it differs from the paid ticket. Do not assume any APTDC package includes Rs 300 darshan unless APTDC confirms it in writing.
A quick cost check for four travellers
The fares are per person, so a group adds up quickly. This is our own arithmetic on the agent figures, and child fares are not known. Four adults from Bengaluru at Rs 3,160 would pay Rs 12,640, and four adults on the Hyderabad Friday fare of Rs 4,300 would pay Rs 17,200. The Hyderabad snippet shows Rs 4,100 on Tuesday, which is Rs 200 less per person, so a flexible group saves Rs 800 by choosing the cheaper day if both fares are real. If you also want the Rs 300 ticket for everyone rather than the free token, add Rs 1,200 for four tickets, plus the time to book it on TTD's portal.
Who this package suits
This is our reading of the listed facts, not a recommendation. A package on an SSD basis suits pilgrims who are flexible on time and want transport and a guided day arranged without driving. It suits you less if you need a fixed darshan slot on a fixed date, because a free token is issued in Tirupati and the time you get depends on that day's queue. If a fixed slot matters, book the paid ticket yourself and treat the bus as transport only.
Temples covered and a typical day
An agent snippet for the Bengaluru tour names four stops: Tirumala, Padmavathi Temple, Srinivasa Mangapuram and Sri Kalahasti, on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule and on an SSD basis. We have not seen an hour-by-hour itinerary from APTDC, so we cannot tell you how long each stop lasts. That is worth asking about, because four stops in one day leave little slack if the SSD queue at Tirumala runs long.
If you only care about the main darshan at Tirumala, ask whether the other stops are optional and whether the bus waits. If you want the full circuit, ask for the order of the stops and the time you are expected to be back at the bus.
Is the package running? Sources disagree
The authorised agent page, updated in May 2026, says the packages are operating in 2026. A search snippet from another page says APTDC and Telangana Tourism are currently not operating Tirumala packages. The official APTDC address redirects to the Andhra Pradesh tourism site, which showed a certificate error when we tried to open it, so official status is DATA UNAVAILABLE.
| Source | What it says about operation | Confidence |
|---|---|---|
| Authorised agent page (May 2026) | Packages operating in 2026 | Low to medium; an agent has a sales interest |
| Search snippet (other page) | APTDC and Telangana Tourism not operating Tirumala packages | Low; snippet only |
| Official APTDC site | Could not be read | DATA UNAVAILABLE |
We cannot settle this. Treat the package as unconfirmed until APTDC or its booking page shows a date you can book. Never pay on the strength of an agent's statement that a tour is running if you cannot see the departure on an official page.
If APTDC cannot confirm a departure, you still have options, and the choice should follow your darshan plan. You can look at another corporation's package, such as the ones we cover for Karnataka and Telangana, or travel on your own by regular bus or train and book the darshan separately. Either way, settle the darshan first and the transport second.
APTDC vs TGTDC and other operators
People often compare APTDC with the Telangana corporation, TGTDC, because both serve Hyderabad. The agent comparison covers private tours too, but it gave no usable figures we could verify, so we compare only the two corporations here.
| Operator | Origins | Fare seen | Darshan | Hotel and meals |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| APTDC | Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Coimbatore, Salem | About Rs 2,000-4,300 by route | SSD token; no Rs 300 ticket (agent) | Not stated in our sources |
| TGTDC (Telangana Tourism) | Hyderabad only | Rs 4,250 | Free SSD token; no ticket (agent) | Hotel and meals, 4 days / 3 nights per the agent |
There is one conflict to flag. The agent describes the Telangana Tourism tour as four days and three nights with hotel and meals, while our own Hyderabad guide describes a TGTDC bus tour at Rs 4,250 as two days and one night. We have not resolved this, so confirm the duration before you book. For the Hyderabad side, see our Tirupati package from Hyderabad guide, and for the Karnataka corporation see the KSTDC Tirupati package guide.
How to verify and book safely
Because the status and the darshan terms are both uncertain, verify before you pay. Official booking is done through APTDC's own channels; we do not publish phone numbers for the operator or for agents.
- Confirm the departure: ask APTDC, through its official booking page, for a date and city you can actually book.
- Get the inclusions in writing: darshan type, meals, temples covered and the return time.
- Book darshan yourself: use TTD's official portal, ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in, for the Rs 300 ticket, or plan to collect the free SSD token in Tirupati.
- Check ID rules: the agent says Aadhaar is mandatory for the SSD token; carry the ID the token counter asks for.
- Keep proof: save the confirmation and the refund terms before you leave.
